  • Why I ditched Airtel Digital TV for DishTV

    DishTv
    Dish TV
Finally, I am happy to have kicked out Airtel Digital TV from my home and brought in DishTV. It was a painful experience with Airtel Diagital TV and I urge everyone who likes not to be taken for a ride and expect reasonably good customer service, should get rid of Airtel Digital TV as soon as possible.

Here are main reasons for discarding Airtel Digital TV:

    1. Though Airtel advertises that they have an à la carte option where user can opt for the channels through their website, that does not work. Actually, whole of Airtel website is full of bugs. And if you call their customer care number, then they will say, ohh, it does not support that browser, that version etc etc. Is not hat amazingly stupid for a company like Airtel ? I tried to get à la carte many times, but did not succeed.

  • Copyright of Photographs

Till now, I have never put any Copyright notice or copyright water mark on any of the photos I have taken. But I have decided to use copyright watermark in my photographs. Yes, old photographs will remain without any watermark.

    Steppe Eagle

Here are reasons, why I did not put any copyright watermark before:-

    1. I did not feel, the photographs were ‘good enough’ to have copyright water mark! So, I never thought some one would actually use them! So, why bother with water mark!

  • Why I sold my Micromax Canvas HD and bought a Samsung Tab 3 211

I bought Micromax Canvas HD which is a very good phone. A very good for a very good price and I was very happy witht he phone. Still, I sold that n Facebook and ended up buying a Samsung Tab 3 211. I think I would write, why I did that.

1.After using Micromax Canvas HD for some 15 days, I realised that, the 5″ screen is too large to keep them in pocket and not so large that one can actually enjoy some video! Either way, it fails! Though it has excellent screen!

    2. Due to its 5″ screen size, the touch keyboard was not big enough to use both hands and small enough to use one hand, for me. So, I was making lot of typing mistakes.

    3. The audio quality of Micromax Canvas HD was really, really bad. It wasnot even as good as Samsung Guru Music phone! It also provided a very poor quality or bad headphone. I did not like them.

  • Job Recommendation by local MLA/MP in Assam

I am not sure what does it mean, but I have seen many job seekers in Assam ( specially my relatives) always visit local MLA/MP for some recommendation letter for job where some recruitment is going on. I tried to search Google “Can MP/MLA in India recommend a candidate in recruitment process ?” and it did not produce any satisfactory result.

I do not know, if MP/MLA can recommend some candidate for any job or not, but I see many candidates in Assam visiting their local MLA/MP for that. I mean how does that work ? I know surely for SSC ( Staff Selection Commission) of the NER ( North Eastern Region) that if they get such letter, they simply throw them into dustbin.

So, why do job seeking candidates seek such ‘recommendation letter’ from MP/MLA ? Does it actually help ? Is it legal ? Do you know anyone who actually got some job by these kind of recommendation letters ?

  • Why I bought Micromax Canvas HD A116

For last few weeks, I read many reviews about smart phones, Android, IOS from Apple, Windows 8 etc. that I was almost tempted to book a domain and start blogging about smartphones, Mobile OS reviews! And I was so confused that I could not decide which mobile phone to buy.

I have been a Blackberry user and occasionally used IPhone. My attempt to use IPhone did not work out. I had Apple 3GS and IOS version 4. While, It was fun to use it, I did not feel very comfortable using it. I felt using a toy more than a serious equipment, mobile phone, a high end, modern communication device.

SO, this time I decided to buy an Android Phone and keep it continue with it. I almost became mobile retarded as I was not using either Android or IOS which I found, everybody else were using. People used to talk about ‘Apps’ while I used to look blank!

  • My personal opinion about democracy in India

My opinion about democracy in India is not good. In fact, in my opinion, democracy is not good for India. It is creating some major problems which require urgent attention and fixing. These problems are responsible for unsatisfactory progress in India.

And that is just my personal opinion, I am neither political science expert, nor any have seen politics in India closely. But, I have so far experienced two things about democracy in India which has convinced me that democracy is not fit for India, at least as of now.

  • What kind of news should be censored

While I do not support censoring news, but I think there are certain types of news which actually need censorship. They just are not worth getting published and getting spread and should be kept under Official Secrecy Act, if that kind of law exists!

Here is the news which I think should be censored and never see publications.

Girls go to govt schools, boys to private‘, says a Times Of India news!

  • My Recent visit to Assam

In last month, I was in Assam, visiting places like Dhemaji, Jonai, Gogamukh, Jorhat etc. and it was quite an experience. While I learn many new things, realise new realities, but this trip home during this hot summer May was quite an experience.

The first thing which struck me was,  National Highway 52. Well, it has changed, finally, I see a change in our district Dhemaji, thanks to NH52. It is still just a two lane road, not like four or six lanes  national highways in Gujarat, Delhi etc. but still, it is awesome.  Way back in 1992, we used to get down from bus while bus used to cross some wooden bridge on some small river. Bus had to stop on the road, in order to let another bus pass it, either from the front or the rear. We had to wait in front of railway bridge to cross Simen river. We did not have bridges on National Highway 52 on any rivers which was little bigger in size, say 50 meters wide or so.

  • Bihu Functions, ULFA Dictat, Zubin’s Hindi Song etc.

This year, Bihu in Assam has surely shown some ‘Bihu’ to all where a separatist terrorist organisation tried to become cultural protector, popular Assamese singer stood up for Indian sovereignty and Chief Minister informed about a thing called ‘Assamese Blood’ to the world!

I live away from Assam, but try to keep myself updated about Assam ( my home state), Arunachal Pradesh ( because I live in a transferred area) and North East India as whole. This episode of ULFA asking Assamese singers not sing Hindi songs in Bihu functions and retort by Zubin Garg by singing a Hindi song in his next stage appearance in a Bihu Function. ULFA retaliated by warning Zubin Garg of terrorist attack ( not responsible if anything bad happens to him) and Assam government provided him security after this threat.
